This course is designed to meet the needs of those, in retail and services sectors, who may have entered the workforce without qualifications and who have now gained valuable experience. It is intended to equip candidates with an understanding of the importance of selling and marketing, while training them to work in teams and to manage the customer interface. The Certificate in Marketing Skills is a stand-alone qualification which will be awarded on successful completion of the four examinations at the end of one year.

WHAT SUBJECTS WILL I STUDY?
CIMS-1 - Marketing in Practice
This module will provide the student with a framework of knowledge and skills to become an effective marketer. With the customer as the central focus of all activities, students will learn how to find out about customers’ needs and wants and to deliver products and services that will satisfy their customers, competitively.
CIMS-2 - Selling Skills
The objective of this module is to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills and disciplines for a successful career in personal selling, and to establish a basis from which students can progress rapidly on the career ladder.
CIMS-3 - Communication Skills
The objective of this module is to provide students with the requisite skills to become effective communicators within their organisations. The programme will focus on the range of communication media available as well as developing written and oral presentation skills.
CIMS-4 - Management for Marketers
The aim of this module is to provide students with the tools and techniques necessary to participate effectively in the implementation of management strategies. Students will gain an awareness of the importance of management and a consciousness of their role in the organisation’s structure.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME?
The 2009/10 registration fee is €275. An additional late fee applies after the registration deadline of October 23, 2009. However, please note forms received in the post on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 will be accepted without the late fee. The examination fee for the four modules is €110 payable by March 2, 2010. A late fee of €35 applies after this date. Registration fee and examination fees are payable to The Marketing Institute. Tuition fees will apply to the college.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I COMPLETE THE COURSE AND PASS THE EXAMS?
You will be invited to The Marketing Institute Graduation Ceremony.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I GET?
You will be awarded The Certificate in Marketing Skills. This is a valuable award since it is made by The Marketing Institute, the professional body for marketing people in Ireland.
